Simply Wall St·06/29/2025 12:13:26
Listen to the news

Anyone interested in Telesat Corporation (NASDAQ:TSAT) should probably be aware that the Chief Commercial Officer, Glenn Katz, recently divested US$319k worth of shares in the company, at an average price of US$23.40 each. That sale was 37% of their holding, so it does make us raise an eyebrow.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Telesat

In fact, the recent sale by Glenn Katz was the biggest sale of Telesat shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (US$24.04). As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. It is worth noting that this sale was only 37% of Glenn Katz's holding.

Insider Ownership

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Telesat insiders own about US$84m worth of shares. That equates to 6.9% of the company. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Telesat Insiders?

An insider sold stock recently, but they haven't been buying. Looking to the last twelve months, our data doesn't show any insider buying.
