Possible Bearish Signals With Vicor Insiders Disposing Stock

Simply Wall St·07/01/2025 11:05:28
Listen to the news

A number of Vicor Corporation (NASDAQ:VICR) insiders sold their shares in the last year, which may have raised concerns among investors. When analyzing insider transactions, it is usually more valuable to know whether insiders are buying versus knowing if they are selling, as the latter sends an ambiguous message. However, shareholders should take a deeper look if several insiders are selling stock over a specific time period.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Vicor Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the Independent Director, Estia Eichten, for US$444k worth of shares, at about US$55.51 per share. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. It's of some comfort that this sale was conducted at a price well above the current share price, which is US$45.36. So it is hard to draw any strong conclusion from it.

Vicor insiders didn't buy any shares over the last year. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insider Ownership Of Vicor

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Vicor insiders own about US$1.0b worth of shares (which is 49% of the company). Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Vicor Insiders?

The fact that there have been no Vicor insider transactions recently certainly doesn't bother us. It's great to see high levels of insider ownership, but looking back over the last year, we don't gain confidence from the Vicor insiders selling. Therefore, you should definitely take a look at this FREE report showing analyst forecasts for Vicor.
