Potential BRC Inc. (NYSE:BRCC) shareholders may wish to note that the Independent Director, Steven Taslitz, recently bought US$153k worth of stock, paying US$1.53 for each share. We reckon that's a good sign, especially since the purchase boosted their holding by 85%.

BRC Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Notably, that recent purchase by Steven Taslitz is the biggest insider purchase of BRC shares that we've seen in the last year. That implies that an insider found the current price of US$1.58 per share to be enticing. Of course they may have changed their mind. But this suggests they are optimistic. While we always like to see insider buying, it's less meaningful if the purchases were made at much lower prices, as the opportunity they saw may have passed. In this case we're pleased to report that the insider purchases were made at close to current prices.

While BRC insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. Their average price was about US$1.35. It is certainly positive to see that insiders have invested their own money in the company. However, you should keep in mind that they bought when the share price was meaningfully below today's levels. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. Insider Ownership

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. From looking at our data, insiders own US$5.0m worth of BRC stock, about 1.4% of the company. We prefer to see high levels of insider ownership.

So What Does This Data Suggest About BRC Insiders?

It's certainly positive to see the recent insider purchases. And an analysis of the transactions over the last year also gives us confidence. However, we note that the company didn't make a profit over the last twelve months, which makes us cautious. While the overall levels of insider ownership are below what we'd like to see, the history of transactions imply that BRC insiders are reasonably well aligned, and optimistic for the future. In addition to knowing about insider transactions going on, it's beneficial to identify the risks facing BRC.
