PC Partner Group (HKG:1263) Is Increasing Its Dividend To HK$0.25

Listen to the news

PC Partner Group Limited (HKG:1263) will increase its dividend on the 10th of October to HK$0.25, which is 25% higher than last year's payment from the same period of HK$0.20. This takes the dividend yield to 5.1%, which shareholders will be pleased with.

PC Partner Group's Payment Could Potentially Have Solid Earnings Coverage

We like to see robust dividend yields, but that doesn't matter if the payment isn't sustainable. Prior to this announcement, PC Partner Group's dividend was comfortably covered by both cash flow and earnings. This indicates that a lot of the earnings are being reinvested into the business, with the aim of fueling growth.

If the trend of the last few years continues, EPS will grow by 20.3% over the next 12 months. If the dividend continues along recent trends, we estimate the payout ratio will be 47%, which is in the range that makes us comfortable with the sustainability of the dividend.

Dividend Volatility

The company's dividend history has been marked by instability, with at least one cut in the last 10 years. The dividend has gone from an annual total of HK$0.045 in 2015 to the most recent total annual payment of HK$0.35. This means that it has been growing its distributions at 23% per annum over that time. It is great to see strong growth in the dividend payments, but cuts are concerning as it may indicate the payout policy is too ambitious.

The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow

Growing earnings per share could be a mitigating factor when considering the past fluctuations in the dividend. PC Partner Group has seen EPS rising for the last five years, at 20% per annum. The company doesn't have any problems growing, despite returning a lot of capital to shareholders, which is a very nice combination for a dividend stock to have.

We Really Like PC Partner Group's Dividend

Overall, a dividend increase is always good, and we think that PC Partner Group is a strong income stock thanks to its track record and growing earnings. The company is easily earning enough to cover its dividend payments and it is great to see that these earnings are being translated into cash flow. All in all, this checks a lot of the boxes we look for when choosing an income stock.

Market movements attest to how highly valued a consistent dividend policy is compared to one which is more unpredictable. Meanwhile, despite the importance of dividend payments, they are not the only factors our readers should know when assessing a company. Case in point: We've spotted 2 warning signs for PC Partner Group (of which 1 is concerning!) you should know about. Is PC Partner Group not quite the opportunity you were looking for?
