Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, warned a friend years ago that he feared for his life, a prediction that surfaced after he was fatally shot at a Utah campus event on Sept. 10.
The messages, shared publicly by his former colleague, have renewed attention on his final days and the inner circle around the conservative group.
Candace Owens released screenshots of a text exchange from April 6, 2018 on her podcast, showing what she says were messages from Kirk in which he foretold a possible violent end because of his political work.
According to the New York Post, in the texts, Kirk wrote: "If I tell you the true prophecy I know in my gut it's really sad," and added, "But I hope its wrong." He continued, "Anyway I am not sure if I will live to see the end of this revolution." He also said, "Since the beginning of TPUSA I knew in my gut that I might get wiped out at any time," and, "I cannot explain it."
Owens posted another passage she attributed to Kirk: "But I dream about it all the time. Like all the time."
Kirk also tried to downplay alarm in the exchange: "Not really afraid of it but I'm just telling you what I know to be true," he told Owens, who served as communications director for Turning Point USA from 2017 to 2019.
In separate messages, Kirk compared his role to a biblical leader: "I might be Moses tho. I might not see this whole thing through lmao." He was later shot through the neck in front of hundreds of attendees during a Turning Point event at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, reports the outlet.
On her podcast after the shooting, Owens urged unnamed people she said betrayed Kirk to come forward.
