Selling S$19m Of Stock Was Lucrative Decision For Metasurface Technologies Holdings Insiders

Simply Wall St·01/13/2026 23:50:38
Listen to the news

While Metasurface Technologies Holdings Limited (HKG:8637) shareholders have enjoyed a good week with stock up 18%, they need remain vigilant. Even though stock prices were relatively low, insiders elected to sell S$19m worth of stock in the last year, which could indicate some expected downturn.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Metasurface Technologies Holdings Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the Non Executive Director, Chong Kim Thng, for HK$11m worth of shares, at about HK$1.48 per share. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (HK$1.80). As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. This single sale was 100% of Chong Kim Thng's stake. Chong Kim Thng was the only individual insider to sell over the last year.

Chong Kim Thng ditched 12.30m shares over the year. The average price per share was S$1.54. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year.
