Improved Earnings Required Before Daohe Global Group Limited (HKG:915) Stock's 32% Jump Looks Justified

Simply Wall St·01/30/2026 22:09:28
Listen to the news

Daohe Global Group Limited (HKG:915) shareholders would be excited to see that the share price has had a great month, posting a 32% gain and recovering from prior weakness. But the last month did very little to improve the 63% share price decline over the last year.

In spite of the firm bounce in price, given about half the companies in Hong Kong have price-to-earnings ratios (or "P/E's") above 13x, you may still consider Daohe Global Group as an attractive investment with its 7.5x P/E ratio. Although, it's not wise to just take the P/E at face value as there may be an explanation why it's limited.

Daohe Global Group has been doing a good job lately as it's been growing earnings at a solid pace. It might be that many expect the respectable earnings performance to degrade substantially, which has repressed the P/E. If you like the company, you'd be hoping this isn't the case so that you could potentially pick up some stock while it's out of favour.

Is There Any Growth For Daohe Global Group?

In order to justify its P/E ratio, Daohe Global Group would need to produce sluggish growth that's trailing the market.

Retrospectively, the last year delivered an exceptional 22% gain to the company's bottom line. Still, incredibly EPS has fallen 56% in total from three years ago, which is quite disappointing. Accordingly, shareholders would have felt downbeat about the medium-term rates of earnings growth.

Comparing that to the market, which is predicted to deliver 20% growth in the next 12 months, the company's downward momentum based on recent medium-term earnings results is a sobering picture.

With this information, we are not surprised that Daohe Global Group is trading at a P/E lower than the market. Nonetheless, there's no guarantee the P/E has reached a floor yet with earnings going in reverse. Even just maintaining these prices could be difficult to achieve as recent earnings trends are already weighing down the shares.

The Final Word

Daohe Global Group's stock might have been given a solid boost, but its P/E certainly hasn't reached any great heights. Typically, we'd caution against reading too much into price-to-earnings ratios when settling on investment decisions, though it can reveal plenty about what other market participants think about the company.

As we suspected, our examination of Daohe Global Group revealed its shrinking earnings over the medium-term are contributing to its low P/E, given the market is set to grow. Right now shareholders are accepting the low P/E as they concede future earnings probably won't provide any pleasant surprises. If recent medium-term earnings trends continue, it's hard to see the share price moving strongly in either direction in the near future under these circumstances.

It's always necessary to consider the ever-present spectre of investment risk. We've identified 2 warning signs with Daohe Global Group (at least 1 which makes us a bit uncomfortable), and understanding them should be part of your investment process.
