The analyst covering BaTeLab Co., Ltd. (HKG:2149) delivered a dose of negativity to shareholders today, by making a substantial revision to their statutory forecasts for this year. Revenue and earnings per share (EPS) forecasts were both revised downwards, with the analyst seeing grey clouds on the horizon.
After the downgrade, the single analyst covering BaTeLab is now predicting revenues of CN¥700m in 2026. If met, this would reflect a decent 20% improvement in sales compared to the last 12 months. Per-share earnings are expected to jump 52% to CN¥2.95. Before this latest update, the analyst had been forecasting revenues of CN¥841m and earnings per share (EPS) of CN¥3.90 in 2026. It looks like analyst sentiment has declined substantially, with a measurable cut to revenue estimates and a pretty serious decline to earnings per share numbers as well.

It'll come as no surprise then, to learn that the analyst has cut their price target 39% to HK$57.00.
Another way we can view these estimates is in the context of the bigger picture, such as how the forecasts stack up against past performance, and whether forecasts are more or less bullish relative to other companies in the industry. The period to the end of 2026 brings more of the same, according to the analyst, with revenue forecast to display 20% growth on an annualised basis. That is in line with its 23% annual growth over the past five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in a similar industry are forecast to see their revenues grow 14% per year. So it's pretty clear that BaTeLab is forecast to grow substantially faster than its industry.
The most important thing to take away is that the analyst cut their earnings per share estimates, expecting a clear decline in business conditions. Unfortunately, the analyst also downgraded their revenue estimates, although our data indicates revenues are expected to perform better than the wider market. After such a stark change in sentiment from the analyst, we'd understand if readers now felt a bit wary of BaTeLab.
Still, the long-term prospects of the business are much more relevant than next year's earnings. At least one analyst has provided forecasts out to 2028, which can be seen for free on our platform here.
