Insiders who bought HK$10.9m worth of Unity Enterprise Holdings Limited's (HKG:2195) stock at an average buy price of HK$0.39 over the last year may be disappointed by the recent 14% decrease in the stock. Insiders purchase with the hope of seeing their investments increase in value over time. However, due to recent losses, their initial investment is now only worth HK$7.89m, which is not great.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider Kin Wai Yuen bought HK$11m worth of shares at a price of HK$0.39 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being HK$0.28). It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. It is encouraging to see an insider paid above the current price for shares, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels. Kin Wai Yuen was the only individual insider to buy during the last year.

It's great to see that Unity Enterprise Holdings insiders own 67% of the company, worth about HK$32m. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
