Don't Ignore The Insider Selling In Axon Enterprise

Simply Wall St·06/05/2026 16:02:59
Listen to the news

Some Axon Enterprise, Inc. (NASDAQ:AXON) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the COO & CFO, Brittany Bagley, recently sold a substantial US$2.9m worth of stock at a price of US$485 per share. However, that sale only accounted for 9.0% of their holding, so arguably it doesn't say much about their conviction.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Axon Enterprise

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the President, Joshua Isner, sold US$18m worth of shares at a price of US$549 per share. So what is clear is that an insider saw fit to sell at around the current price of US$513. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. In this case, the big sale took place at around the current price, so it's not too bad (but it's still not a positive).

Over the last year we saw more insider selling of Axon Enterprise shares, than buying. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. Does Axon Enterprise Boast High Insider Ownership?

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. It's great to see that Axon Enterprise insiders own 4.3% of the company, worth about US$1.7b. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
