Possible Bearish Signals With CMON Insiders Disposing Stock

Simply Wall St·09/16/2026 06:46:52
Listen to the news

Over the past year, many CMON Limited (HKG:1792) insiders sold a significant stake in the company which may have piqued investors' interest. When analyzing insider transactions, it is usually more valuable to know whether insiders are buying versus knowing if they are selling, as the latter sends an ambiguous message. However, if numerous insiders are selling, shareholders should investigate more.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

CMON Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider Tak Shun Cheung bought HK$6.7m worth of shares at a price of HK$1.35 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than HK$1.10 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when insiders have purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price.

In the last twelve months insiders purchased 9.98m shares for HK$13m. On the other hand they divested 14.73m shares, for HK$18m. Over the last year we saw more insider selling of CMON shares, than buying. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. Does CMON Boast High Insider Ownership?

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. CMON insiders own about HK$22m worth of shares. That equates to 32% of the company. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
